The Task
Low volume production of this high-end sports car demands optimized material supply whereby protection, quality, efficiency and reliability are of paramount importance. Moving high value components from location to line side in the safest manner possible is a critical section of the production process. Failures here lead to compromises and risk in quality of build and increased build time.
The Product
Using a fleet of LKE SLC 600 Trolleys, pre-assembled components and sub-components are placed on the 4 shelf SLC 600 trolley, held securely and begin to shadow the assigned vehicle throughout the assembly processes, returning to replenish components for each stage of the build – Chassis, Fuel System, Electrical components, Powertrain, Suspension, Body Panels and Interior.
SLC Trolleys were customized in a high gloss black powdercoat with clipboard holders to locate vehicle build information.
The Result
The BAC facility is now able to produce a vehicle to customer’s
specifications with no compromise in material supply quality and minimal risk to components in transit. Production times have been improved resulting in a new build completion in as little as four weeks due to a high quality, efficient and reliable solution. Rainer Kühlwein; Briggs Mono Director of
Manufacturing said. “Our production process has significantly improved with the introduction of LKE System reducing production time and increasing quality, the advantage is the trollies are highly manoverable.”
